Pennington Infants Wildflower meadow

Published on 2015-05-14 by Gill Hickman

Pennington Infants had to endure one of the wettest days of May for the sowing of their wildflower meadow but there was no option.

Turf had been cut several weeks ago so the ground needed a good hoe before children started. Using tools donated by Tools for Self Reliance, children quickly learnt how to dig, hoe and rake and each child was then shown how to cast the seed in the wet ground. A light sprinkling of peat free compost completed the job.

Children remained cheerful throughout: in fact that didn't want to go in to have their lunch!
