Walhampton's late flowering meadow

Published on 2015-10-07 by Gill Hickman

Walhampton Prep School’s wildflower meadow was the last of all the school meadows to flower, but when it did, helped by early September rain, it was blooming marvellous. The school have taken advantage of it for science with year 8 students making the most of mid-September sunshine. Sampling the meadow revealed an astonishing 20 species in the wildflower meadow compared with a near monoculture of grass in the pony paddock and playing field.
